Why did you choose to pursue a PGY2 pediatric residency? I first fell in love with working with kids at a summer camp where I taught kids to wakeboard and water ski, during undergrad. Pediatric clinical pharmacy gave me the opportunity to combine my clinical pharmacy knowledge with that same fun and excitement I had experienced working with kids in the past. Pediatric PGY2 residency training gives me the opportunity to continue to grow in my clinical knowledge in a variety of exciting pediatric specialties and build upon the pharmacy foundations I learned during PGY1 training. I know that completing this PGY2 will provide me with the advanced training and skillset to develop into an outstanding clinical specialist and become the preceptor/mentor I hope to be for other students and residents that so many amazing pharmacists were for me.

What drew you to the pharmacy residency program at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital? As someone who was trained originally at an adult focused facility, I was drawn to Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital for their wide variety of robust pediatric experiences. I knew that I would have numerous opportunities to learn in so many different pediatric specialty areas with a large group of highly trained preceptors. After meeting Marla at ASHP's Midyear Conference and the rest of the clinical team during interviews, I could see the positive supportive culture of the clinical specialist team. I knew I would be well supported in my training to become a strong clinical specialist in the pediatric field.

Why did you choose to pursue a PGY2 pediatric residency? Since the beginning of pharmacy school, I have always dreamed about a career in Pediatrics. I decided to pursue a PGY2 pediatric residency in order to enhance my pediatric clinical knowledge, expose myself to innovative practices at a different institution, and spend more one-on-one time with clinical specialists who share the same devotion to this patient population. I understood that a PGY2 residency could solidify the clinical, operational, and professional skillsets I have been developing.

What drew you to the pharmacy residency program at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital? I was drawn to this residency program for how purposeful and well-rounded it is, as it not only offers comprehensive core rotations and unique electives but also a strong research curriculum, leadership and wellness program, and opportunities for active involvement in various committees. After learning more about the PGY2 program and meeting all of the brilliant preceptors during my interview, I was confident Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital would help shape me into the clinical leader I aspire to become.
