Francesco Simonetti Wins Director's Early Independence Award

Francesco Simonetti

Francesco R. Simonetti, M.D., an assistant professor of infectious diseases, has been awarded a Director's Early Independence Award from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Part of the NIH's High-Risk, High-Reward Research program, the award provides an opportunity for exceptional junior scientists who have recently received their doctoral degree or completed their medical residency to skip traditional post-doctoral training and move immediately into independent research positions. Simonetti's funded project is "Investigating Antigen-Driven Clonal Proliferation to Target HIV-1 Persistence."
