Dr. William J. Ravekes is an associate professor of pediatrics at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. A pediatric cardiologist, Dr. Ravekes serves as medical director of the Pediatric Heart Transplant and Mechanical Circulatory Support Program. He also specializes in non-invasive imaging, fetal echocardiography and the perioperative and intensive care of fetuses, infants, children and adults with congenital heart disease.

Dr. Ravekes earned his medical degree at the George Washington University School of Medicine. He completed a pediatrics residency and chief residency at Lucile Salter Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford and a fellowship in pediatric cardiology at Boston Children’s Hospital. He served on the faculty of Texas Children’s Hospital prior to joining Johns Hopkins.

He is certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners, the and the American Board of Pediatrics Sub-Board in Cardiology.

His research interests include echocardiographic assessment of cardiac function, aortopathies, heart transplant and medical education. He has published more than 50 scholarly articles. more
