Background
Dr. Niz Maruf is originally from India. After graduating from Grant Medical College in Bombay, he spent 18 months in a general surgery residency in Bombay before immigrating to the United States in 1977. He then completed two years of general surgery training in New York, followed by four years of urology residency in Minnesota. After practicing 12 years in Minnesota with a large HMO, he moved to Maryland. He had a private solo practice for four years prior to joining Urological Consultants in 1999.
Dr. Maruf has a diverse urology practice with a special interest in radioactive seed implantation (brachytherapy) for the treatment of prostate cancer, the management of urinary stone disease, and neuromodulation for the treatment of overactive bladder.
Dr. Maruf is a member of the American Urological Association (AUA), the Medical Society of Maryland (MedChi), and the Montgomery County Medical Society. He has been recognized byWashingtonian Magazine as one of the Top Doctors of 2012.
