Background
Melissa Blakeman, M.D., is the regional medical director for Johns Hopkins Community Physicians (JHCP) in the Maryland suburbs region and is affiliated with Suburban Hospital. Dr. Blakeman practices internal medicine at JHCP in North Bethesda, Maryland, where she previously served as the office medical director.
Dr. Blakeman earned her medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. She completed a residency in internal medicine at the George Washington University School of Medicine. Dr. Blakeman has also completed Johns Hopkins Medicine's Transforming Health Systems for Accountable Care Executive Education Program and Leadership Development Program.
Dr. Blakeman serves as the physician lead for the Access Task Force to improve patient access across JHCP, as well as the physician lead for central scheduling. She is on several committees, including the Baldridge, Recruitment and Retention, Research and Projects, Internet Refresh, and Practice Standards Committees.
Dr. Blakeman has earned the JHCP Silver Mouse Shining Star for help with Epic implementation and the Gallup Engagement Survey top tier score for numerous years. She has also been repeatedly named a Top Doctor by Washingtonian Magazine and Washington Consumers' Checkbook.
