Dr. Maria Golson joined the Division of Endocrinology, Obesity and Metabolism in 2019. Her laboratory is interested in the intrinsic and extrinsic regulators of beta-cell function and insulin secretion.

Dr. Golson received her B.S. in Biology with a concentration in Genetics from Duke University. She then pursued her Ph.D. in Cell and Molecular Biology with a concentration in Genetics and Gene Regulation at the University of Pennsylvania. She completed her postdoctoral training at Vanderbilt University before starting her faculty career as a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Genetics at the University of Pennsylvania. Throughout her career, Dr. Golson has studied various aspects of pancreatic endocrine cell development and function. more
