Background
Dr. Derek M. Fine is an associate professor of medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. His areas of clinical expertise include glomerular kidney disease, particularly lupus nephritis and other immune-mediated kidney diseases, HIV-related kidney disease, scleroderma-related kidney disease, acute kidney injury, hyponatremia, kidney biopsy, and rhabdomyolysis.
Dr. Fine serves as the Clinical Director of the Division of Nephrology.
Dr. Fine earned his M.D. at Johns Hopkins. He completed his residency in internal medicine and his fellowship in nephrology at Johns Hopkins.
His research interests include HIV-related kidney diseases and lupus nephritis.
He is a member of the Miller Coulson Academy of Clinical Excellence and was named 2018 Physician of the Year at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
