Background
Dr. Bonnie Sun is an assistant professor of surgery and breast surgeon at Suburban Hospital and a faculty member of Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. She practices in Washington, D.C. and Bethesda, MD as a Johns Hopkins Community Physician.
Dr. Sun has an expertise in breast cancer and is skilled in surgical techniques to improve cosmetic outcomes, such as nipple and skin sparing mastectomy, minimally invasive breast surgery and breast conservation with oncoplastic techniques.
Dr. Sun earned her medical degree from Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine. She completed a residency in general surgery, followed by a fellowship in breast surgery at University of Southern California Medical Center.
Dr. Sun is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the Society of Surgical Oncology, the American Society of Breast Surgeons, the Association of Women Surgeons and the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
Dr. Sun has conducted research focusing on surgical treatment that improves clinical outcomes, long-term outcomes and postoperative quality of life, as well as clinical advancements in the practice of breast oncologic surgery. She has published numerous scientific papers in national peer-reviewed journals and presented at national meetings.
