Dr. Adamson is a pediatric surgeon at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. He will also be part of the general surgery team at Tampa General Hospital and HCA Florida Brandon Hospital as part of a collaboration with Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. He joined the hospital staff in 2023.
His clinical interests in pediatric general surgery are broad, with a particular interest in colorectal surgery, newborn surgery and chest wall malformations. In his practice, he emphasizes minimally invasive surgery, including abdominal gastrointestinal procedures and repair of pectus excavatum. Throughout his career, he has championed surgical quality and efficiency.
Dr. Adamson was previously chief of the Division of General Surgery in the Department of Surgery at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. More recently, he has served in the same position at Nemours Children’s Hospital in Orlando. He was also a professor of Surgery at University of Central Florida College of Medicine in Orlando.
He earned his medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine in Durham, North Carolina. He completed general surgery training at the Hospital of University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. During this general surgery program, he also completed a research fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine with a focus on short bowel syndrome and intestinal rehabilitation. Finally, he completed his fellowship training in pediatric surgery at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
Dr. Adamson has published many peer-reviewed articles, authored numerous book chapters and given many talks nationally.
