Office of Capital Region Research

CAPRES was created to develop and nurture research in three community hospitals—Suburban Hospital, Sibley Memorial Hospital and Howard County General Hospital—all of which are members of Johns Hopkins Medicine. The affiliation provides a new opportunity for these institutions to expand and coordinate research historically based primarily at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

CAPRES is an integral component of the Johns Hopkins Medicine Research organization under the leadership of Dr. Daniel Ford, Vice Dean for Clinical Investigation. CAPRES provides the interface between the three community hospitals and several key Johns Hopkins Medicine Research entities including the Institutional Review Board (IRB) and the Institute for Clinical and Translational Research ICTR.

Headshot of Jackie Lobien, R.N., CAPRES Divisional Coordinator

The primary responsibilities of CAPRES are to build research capacity at all three hospitals and to work closely with various hospital departments, Johns Hopkins Clinical Research Network, Institute for Clinical and Translational Research and the Community Division of Johns Hopkins Health System to support investigators who are currently conducting research at these sites. CAPRES also supports faculty investigators who may want to expand their research to these sites.

The CAPRES Divisional Coordinator, Jackie Lobien, will be the primary anchor of the local resources provided under CAPRES as she acts as the liaison between principal investigators, co-investigators, research nurses, study coordinators and research offices at Johns Hopkins Medicine and the three CAPRES sites. Jackie can be reached at 301-896-3122.
