Dr. Jenell Coleman is assistant professor in the Johns Hopkins Medicine Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics. Her areas of clinical expertise include reproductive tract infections and HIV in women.

Dr. Coleman received her undergraduate degree in biology from the University of Pittsburgh. She earned her M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and her Masters of Public Health from the University of California, Berkeley. She completed her residency at the University of California, Los Angeles and performed a fellowship in reproductive infectious diseases at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Coleman joined the Johns Hopkins faculty in 2010.

Prior to joining Johns Hopkins, Dr. Coleman was an assistant professor in the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Coleman''s research interests include HIV shedding in the female genital tract.

Dr. Coleman’s clinical practice encompasses global women’s health. She has published numerous articles on contraception, genital tract infections, and HIV in Kenyan women. Dr. Coleman has been recognized with the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists Contraceptive Research Award.
