Background

Dr. Hua received his master's and doctoral degrees in biomedical engineering and electrical engineering at the Johns Hopkins University. After completing a post-doctoral fellowship in the Department of Radiology at the Johns Hopkins University, Dr. Hua became an assistant professor in the F.M. Kirby Research Center for Functional Brain Imaging at Kennedy Krieger Institute and Department of Radiology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

Research Summary

Dr. Hua's research focuses on the development of novel MRI technologies for in vivo functional, neurovascular and metabolic imaging in the brain. Dr. Hua is particularly interested in high magnetic field (7 Tesla) human MRI methods. He is also interested in novel MRI contrasts, such as chemical exchange saturation transfer (CEST). Ongoing projects include applying these techniques in neurodegenerative diseases such as Huntingdon’s disease, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's Disease, and mental disorders such as schizophrenia, and brain tumor.
