Research Summary

Dr. Danoff’s research focus is on factors that increase an individual’s risk of interstitial lung disease (ILD). These include genetic factors as in familial interstitial lung disease, as well as race, gender and autoantibody status in autoimmune myositis-associated ILD. In addition to understanding these risks, Dr. Danoff’s research focuses on optimizing treatment for patients with ILD by evaluating traditional outcome measures such as lung function and imaging as well as patient reported outcomes. Dr. Danoff is working in collaboration with Dr. Mathai in the pulmonary hypertension group to evaluate patients with both ILD and PH in order to better understand the impact on patient outcome and to develop better tailored therapies.
