Dr. Jaishri Blakeley received her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine before completing a year of Internal Medicine training also at Baylor.  She then came to The Johns Hopkins Hospital for her residency in Neurology followed by two years of specialty training in Neuro-Oncology.

Dr. Blakeley is now an Assistant Professor of Neurology, Oncology and Neurosurgery. She focuses her clinical efforts on the diagnosis and management of primary nervous system tumors.   She treats adults with tumors such as anaplastic astrocytoma, anaplastic oligodendroglioma and low grade gliomas. She is also the Director of The Johns Hopkins Comprehensive Neurofibromatosis Center where she provides care for patients with Neurofibromatosis type 1, Neurofibromatosis type 2, and Schwannomatosis.

Dr. Blakeley’s research focus is in designing and conducting clinical trials to advance promising therapies for primary central and peripheral nervous system tumors.  She is particularly focused on developing techniques to assess and maximize drug delivery to tumors and on early phase discovery trials for novel therapies in rare tumors.  She is director of the research program Neurofibromatosis Therapeutic Acceleration Program which was founded to foster collaboration across various disciplines, institutions and stakeholders in therapeutic development to expedite the development of effective therapies for plexiform neurofibromas.  Dr. Blakeley is also a member of the Adult Brain Tumor Consortium and the Department of Defense Neurofibromatosis Clinical Trials Consortium.  These are cooperative groups made up of  expert centers and funded by the National Cancer Institute and Department of Defense respectively to discover new therapies for nervous system tumors.

Dr. Blakeley conducts Neuro-oncology Clinic weekly in the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center in the Weinberg Pavilion Outpatient Center on Wednesdays from 8:00-1:00 and the multidisciplinary Johns Hopkins Comprehensive Neurofibromatosis Center clinic on Mondays and Fridays.
