Dr. Steven Zeiler received his medical and doctor of philosophy degrees from the University of Colorado.  He completed a one year internal medicine internship at the University of Colorado prior to coming to Johns Hopkins for his residency training in Neurology.  Following his residency, Dr. Zeiler then completed a one year fellowship in Vascular Neurology also at Johns Hopkins.

Now an Assistant Professor of Neurology, Dr. Zeiler's clinical efforts are focused on the diagnosis and management of cerebrovascular disease (stroke), including acute stroke therapy, secondary prevention of stroke, and recovery from stroke.

Dr. Zeiler’s research focuses on stroke recovery.  Using an animal model system, Dr. Zeiler is defining as well as finding new ways to encourage the neuronal plasticity which occurs after a stroke.  Dr. Zeiler’s research will ultimately encourage better recoveries from stroke and stroke-like insults.

Dr. Zeiler attends on the inpatient service at both The Johns Hopkins Hospital as well as the The Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.  Dr. Zeiler sees outpatients at The Johns Hopkins Outpatient Center on Monday mornings.
