The Armstrong Institute helps to coordinate and support safety and quality improvement efforts throughout Johns Hopkins Medicine.

In March 2012, an Armstrong Institute board that includes hospital executives from across Johns Hopkins Medicine made the commitment that the organization would be a national leader in patient safety and quality. Two of the ways that we have defined leadership is excelling in adherence to core measures—processes of care shown to result in better outcomes—and in hand hygiene compliance.
