Joanne Flanagan is a senior occupational therapist at Kennedy Krieger Institute, where she provides clinical services to children as an outpatient therapist. She is pursuing her Sc.D. degree in Occupational Science at Towson University. She is the recipient of the Pediatric Doctoral Fellowship, which is a partnership program between Towson University's Department of Occupational Therapy and Occupational Science and Kennedy Krieger Institute.
Ms. Flanagan received her M.S. in occupational therapy at Washington University and her bachelor's degree in psychology at Texas A&M University. In addition to her clinical and research interest in motor control, she has an interest in sensory processing of children. She is working with Dr. Rebecca Landa, Ph.D., Director of the Center for Autism and Related Disorders at Kennedy Krieger Institute, to identify the sensorimotor skills of infants at risk for autism. Prior to coming to Kennedy Krieger three years ago, Ms. Flanagan worked at the National Institutes of Health where she was involved in many research studies as associate investigator in NIH's Department of Rehabilitation Medicine.
