Resources for Research Community
Nurses who are interested in conducting nursing research are required to contact the NRC prior to study initiation. Additionally, nurses who are interested in being a Principal Investigator (PI) on a research study or quality improvement project must contact the NRC before submitting an application through the eIRB system.
In order for a nurse to be eligible to be the Principal Investigator (PI) on a nurse-initiated project (research or quality improvement) the nurse must meet the following criteria:
- Minimum of Master of Science in Nursing or doctoral-prepared
- Minimum one-year non-trainee work experience within the Johns Hopkins Health System
- Written endorsement from Director of Nursing or designee confirming employment in good standing
- Evidence of prior research experience as a co-investigator (co-I) on at least one IRB-approved human subjects research study
- Completed REWards training, and all other required training specified by the Johns Hopkins Medicine Office of Human Subjects Research
