Dr. Singh Receives Prestigious Hartwell Foundation Indvidual Biomedical Research Award

Dr. Mandeep Singh, M.B.B.S., M.D., Ph.D, is the 2017 recipient of the prestigious Hartwell Foundation's Individual Biomedical Research Award for his proposal, "Stem Cell Cytoplasmic Transfer to Cure Inherited Blindness". The award provides $300,000 in support over three years to exceptional scientists who are pursuing biomedical research. According to its website, "the Foundation takes into account the compelling and transformative nature of the proposed innovation, the extent to which a strategic or translational approach might accelerate the clinical application of research results to benefit children of the United States, the extent of collaboration in the proposed research, the institutional commitment to provide encouragement and technical support to the investigator, and the extent to which funding the investigator will make a difference."

Dr. Singh is dedicated to advancing biomedical discovery as it applies to retinal degeneration. In 2016, he was awarded the prestigious Clinician Scientist Career Development Award from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and is a member of Wilmer's Center for Stem Cells and Ocular Regenerative Medicine.
