J. Fernando Arevalo Honored with PAOF Life and Legacy Award


J. Fernando Arevalo, M.D., received the Pan-American Ophthalmological Foundation's 2018 Life and Legacy Award at the American Academy of Ophthalmology Meeting in conjunction with the Pan-American Association of Ophthalmology (PAAO).

The Pan-American Ophthalmological Foundation’s Life and Legacy Award was established to acknowledge those individuals who contribute significantly to the Foundation. Contributions to the Pan-American Ophthalmological Foundation have been instrumental in helping the Pan-American Association of Ophthalmology (PAAO) remain a leader in providing sight-saving ophthalmic knowledge and skills to thousands of ophthalmologists who are working daily to improve the quality of eye care and prevent blindness.

Dr. Arevalo is the Edmund F. and Virginia B. Ball professor of ophthalmology at the Johns Hopkins Wilmer Eye Institute's retina division, and chairman of the department of ophthalmology at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. Dr. Arevalo is also the current president of the PAAO.
