Dr. Albert Jun Wilmer Eye Institute

Albert Jun, M.D., Ph.D., was recently honored for his work as the 12th Annual Boston International Visiting Professor in cataract, cornea and external eye diseases.

The award was presented by the Harvard Medical School Department of Ophthalmology, VA Boston Healthcare System and the Boston University Department of Ophthalmology. This academic event has become one of the established yearly ophthalmology meetings in Boston, attracting international world leaders in corneal and external eye disease as its guests of honor.

A reproduction of the ‘Revere Bowl,’ the iconic silver bowl fashioned by American Patriot Paul Revere to commemorate the steadfastness of the colonists in their protest against taxes imposed by the British (“no taxation without representation”), is bestowed upon the visiting professor as a token of the great appreciation of their visit to Boston.  The guests-of-honor to date, are all leaders in the field and come from around the world including the UK, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Australia, Italy, USA, and France.
