Head and neck surgeon Wojciech Mydlarz recaps a panel presentation on the management of adults neck masses from the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Foundation 2024 annual meeting. The recommendations are centered on clinical practice guidelines published by the academy and are available for everyone to use. The panel emphasizes the importance of assuming that an adult neck mass is a cancer until proven otherwise; the physical exam; the mobility of the mass; endoscopy to look for mucosal or lining cancers; and finally, a biopsy as needed. Once diagnosis is established, surgical plans and management can be addressed. #neckmass #johnshopkins
