Consolidated Service Center

State-of-the-art, efficient, and transformative all describe the new Johns Hopkins Health System Consolidated Service Center (CSC), which opened in June 2018. The CSC is part of the Enterprise Supply Chain Five-Year Strategic Plan (developed in 2014) which aims to improve performance across Johns Hopkins Medicine by transforming the supply chain through achieving cost savings while upholding and improving upon patient safety and quality of care.

The CSC replaced the Materials Distribution Center (MDC), which supplied JHH and JHBMC with medical-surgical products. The new facility boasts over 165,000 square feet with the potential to expand to approximately 250,000 square feet of temperature controlled space. Throughout next fiscal year, the CSC will expand to provide fulfillment services to Suburban Hospital, Howard County General Hospital, and Sibley Memorial Hospital.

Distribution processes within the four walls of the CSC are supported by a newly acquired warehouse management system (WMS) called Manhattan SCALE, short for Supply Chain Architected for Logistics. The Enterprise Business Solutions team has integrated SCALE with the SAP Inventory Management system. SAP remains in place as the system for material and vendor data, purchasing processes, and inventory management processes.

Mission

The mission of the Consolidated Service Center is to support the success of health care professionals by providing seamless supply chain services.
