The goal of Johns Hopkins University Radiation Oncology in Bethesda, Maryland, is to provide the most effective and safe radiation therapy treatments to our patients. Conveniently located near Suburban Hospital, our group cares for patients seeking radiation therapy for both cancerous and benign conditions.

We offer a unique mix of Johns Hopkins faculty expertise, state-of-the-art technology, advanced clinical trials and industry leading safety and quality protocols. Our experienced staff are deeply committed to the needs of our patients, and bring their compassion to all parts of the treatment experience.

Our Leading-Edge Technology

In radiation therapy, targeting a tumor while avoiding damage to healthy tissue is the ultimate goal, and our team in Bethesda has a wide array of advanced tools available to tailor treatment. Our team was the first community radiation oncology facility to offer intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) in Montgomery County.

Our new state-of-the-art linear accelerators are equipped with the most advanced technology that enable us to deliver precise three-dimensional radiotherapy: IMRT, volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) and image guided radiotherapy (IGRT) using cone-beam computed tomography.

For cancers that require even more precise targeting, we offer intracranial stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) to treat very small tumors inside the brain, and stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) to deliver the most precise treatments to small tumors in the body, such as certain lung and prostate cancers. Also our integrated treatment planning technology allow us to offer advanced prone radiation therapy techniques for breast cancer, breath hold therapy techniques, and four-dimensional simulation techniques, all which help spare healthy tissue.
