Suburban Hospital Names New Department of Psychiatry Chair

Bethesda, Md., (March 20, 2014) – Michael Knable, D.O., has been named the new Chair of the Department of Psychiatry at Suburban Hospital.

Dr. Knable has been affiliated with Suburban Hospital since 1999 and is also Vice President for Medical Affairs at Axis Healthcare Group. He formerly served as Executive Director of The Stanley Medical Research Institute, and as a Clinical Associate for the National Institute of Mental Health.

Dr. Knable received his medical degree from Ohio University. He trained in psychiatry at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, in neurology at George Washington University Hospital, and is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Dr. Knable is the author of more than 70 publications on various aspects of neuropsychiatric disease and has been elected as a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and as a member of the American College of Psychiatrists.
