Suburban Hospital Honors Annual James A. Brown Award Winner

BETHESDA, Md. (May 31, 2013) – Suburban Hospital recently honored Aleykutty Vetticad, R.N., of Gaithersburg, Md., as recipient of the James A. Brown Award for Excellence in Oncology Care. She has been a staff nurse in the oncology unit at Suburban Hospital for 35 years.

Vetticad was selected because of the skill and compassion she uses daily to make valuable contributions to patient care at Suburban Hospital, said Chief Nursing Officer Barbara Jacobs, R.N.

The Brown Award, established in honor of Suburban Hospital’s James A. Brown, MD, recognizes a nurse who goes above and beyond as a patient advocate, exhibiting exemplary compassion and empathy in communicating with oncology patients and their families. Dr. Brown, an oncologist, has always recognized the important partnership of nurses and technicians in the treatment and care of his patients. Suburban honored the first recipient of the Brown Award in 2008.
