The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine offers several distinctions to recognize high-quality medical student scholarship.

Henry Strong Denison Outstanding Student Research Award

This award is given annually to a medical student who is invited to present their scholarship at the podium session of Medical Student Research Symposium. A panel of faculty judges select the winner from all podium presentations.

Harold Lamport Foundation Award

This award is given annually to a medical student who is invited to present their scholarship at the podium session of Medical Student Research Symposium. A panel of faculty judges select the winner from all podium presentations.

Barry Wood Research Award

This award is given annually to a medical student who is invited to present their scholarship at the podium session of Medical Student Research Symposium. A panel of faculty judges select the winner from all podium presentations.

Distinction in Medical Student Research Awards

Each year, the Office of Medical Student Research and Scholarship provides awards for outstanding medical student research projects, typically from students who have presented their scholarship in a concurrent oral session of Medical Student Research Symposium. A panel of faculty judges select winners from among all oral presentations.

Excellence in Medical Student Research Awards

Each year, the Office of Medical Student Research and Scholarship provides awards for excellent medical student research project poster presentations at Medical Student Research Symposium. A panel of faculty judges select the winner from all poster presentations.
