Information for Johns Hopkins Trainees and Observers

Trainees are usually graduate-level degree candidates in other institutions (except M.D.) who are appointed for specific time periods usually not exceeding one year. The purpose of their appointment is generally to develop a specific area of expertise that is not available at their home institution. Trainees are not permitted to enroll in JHU courses without formal application and payment of tuition. Certificates are not issued to trainees.

The Summary of Benefits and Coverage (SBC) provides a general description of the benefits provided by the School of Medicine Student Health Program. SBCs are required by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. The federal government developed the SBC form primarily to help those eligible for insurance compare the costs and benefits for different plans.
