New Postdoctoral Excellence in Mentoring Award: Call for 2020 Nominations

The inaugural Postdoctoral Excellence in Mentoring Award is accepting nominations to recognize two postdoctoral fellows who have provided exceptional mentoring to fellow researchers. The two postdoctoral awardees will be honored at the 7th Annual Postdoctoral Conference in April and receive $1000 prizes. Nominations will be accepted from any Johns Hopkins University affiliate until January 15, 2020. Self-nominations are permitted. For more information, click here.

Career Counseling Offers Postdocs an Edge on the Job Market

Did you know that postdoctoral fellows can meet with School of Medicine career counselors? These counselors advise on job search strategies and review job application materials such as cover letters, CV’s and resumes. Postdocs can also practice interviewing with mock interviews and receive practical tips on making excellent impressions on potential employers. The Diversity Postdoctoral Alliance Committee (DPAC) holds its annual conference on Thursday, November 7, 2019, and cordially invites all faculty and trainees to attend this showcase of outstanding achievements of scholars from underrepresented backgrounds. This event includes plenary sessions, scientific presentations and networking opportunities. New Responsible Conduct of Research Seminar for Postdoctoral Fellows

Congratulations to Postdocs with a Recent Career Accomplishment

Here are a few:

  • Susana Rodriguez is serving on the University-wide search committee for the next Vice Provost for Diversity and Inclusion and Chief Diversity Officer
  • Jada Domingue served on the search committee for the new JHM Chief Diversity Officer and currently sits on the search committee for the SOM Associate Dean for Diversity and Inclusion
  • Philippe Vincent was awarded an emerging research grant from the Hearing Health Foundation
  • Marco Manca gave a talk at the Inner Ear Biology 2019 Meeting in Padua, Italy
  • Postdocs who’ve recently published include Pankhuri Vyas (Scientific Reports) and Felix Aplin (Frontiers in Neuroscience)
