Congratulations to Dr. Sun!

Dr. Wenjie Sun certified as FACOG

Dr. Wenjie Sun

Congratulations to Dr. Wenjie Sun on her certification as a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG).

To become a fellow, candidates must become certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG) and then nominated to the college by another fellow. Board certification involves a two-part exam, usually taken over a two-year period. The first part is a written exam, which is taken the first year the candidate is "eligible" (typically in the final year of obstetrics and gynecology residency training). The second part is an oral exam, taken the year after the written exam is passed. The oral examination is based largely on a collection of a year's worth of medical and surgical cases known as the "case list."

Founded in 1951 in Chicago, Illinois, ACOG has over 52,000 members and is the nation's leading group of professionals providing health care for women. Now based in Washington, DC, it is a private, voluntary, nonprofit membership organization.

Dr. Sun

ACOG works primarily in four areas:

  • Serving as a strong advocate for quality health care for women.
  • Maintaining the highest standards of clinical practice and continuing education for its members.
  • Promoting patient education and stimulating patient understanding of and involvement in medical care.
  • Increasing awareness among its members and the public of the changing issues facing women's health care.

We are really proud of you, Dr. Sun!
