About the Foundation

The Sibley Memorial Hospital Foundation was established to provide philanthropic support to Sibley Memorial Hospital.  The Foundation's Board of Trustees and staff are dedicated to Sibley's historical mission and appreciative of the new opportunities that accompany the recent affiliation with Johns Hopkins Medicine. The foundation is committed to meeting the many challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

Through maximizing financial contributions and serving as exemplary stewards of the public's trust, the Foundation works to ensure Sibley's future.  With your help, Sibley will remain the hospital of choice for thousands of patients throughout our community.

About the Sibley Memorial Hospital Foundation

In 2007, the Trustees of Sibley Memorial Hospital established the Sibley Memorial Hospital Foundation and incorporated it as a 501(c)(3) organization. A separate Board of Trustees was created specifically to oversee the foundation and its activities.  All donations received are fully tax-deductible according to IRS regulations.

The mission of the foundation is to:

  • Achieve financial results necessary to maintain leadership in the metropolitan area as the premier provider of community health care services with a reputation for high quality and personalized patient care, and
  • Communicate and promote Sibley's mission to customers both internally and externally.

The Foundation solicits contributions from the community and provides opportunities to participate in the progress of the hospital. Key components of the program include:

  • Annual giving
  • Corporate and foundation grants
  • Major gifts
  • Planned giving
  • Special events
  • A capital campaign

Contributions provide access to innovations in medical science and technology, (provide care regardless of patients’ ability to pay), improve facilities, programs, and services, and help develop staff to provide the highest possible quality of care.

Funding priorities are based on the hospital’s strategic plan and are communicated with Sibley’s audiences. Funding needs are also reviewed through periodic meetings to check progress against goals.

The hospital and its foundation comply with all local, state and federal regulatory requirements for nonprofit organizations.
