Once you are scheduled for either an outpatient procedure or an inpatient admission, you will be contacted by a representative from our Admissions Department to verify your demographic and insurance information. Some procedures require insurance preauthorization, which needs to be completed at least two days before your scheduled procedure. Preregistration is necessary for our insurance verifiers to confirm your insurance and is required before treatment can begin. If you are scheduled for surgery, you will receive an additional call from a nurse to discuss your procedure prior to your scheduled appointment.
You can save time when you are in labor by pre-registering before your expected due date for delivery. You can pick up a preregistration form from your physician’s office, at the time of a Sibley Memorial Hospital prenatal tour or at Admissions in the Sibley Memorial Hospital main lobby. Most insurance plans require pre-authorization for your admission for the delivery of your baby. Check with your employer’s benefits office or insurance company customer service representative to make sure that you have met their notification requirements.
If you are unable to complete the pre-registration forms in advance, you and your support person will need to allow extra time to complete the registration process when you arrive at the hospital. Please bring your insurance cards and photo ID for us to copy.
