Therapeutic Massage

Massage therapy (including oncology massage therapy) includes many techniques and various types of massage, based on the client’s needs and physical condition.  Massage therapists are licensed and trained to understand all the nuances of the body and any underlying conditions, including specific organ functions and sensations.

In addition to general wellness, massage is used for a variety of health-related conditions, including chronic pain relief, reducing stress, increasing relaxation, boosting mood, There are several studies looking at massage therapy’s role in lung function in children with asthma, relief in women in labor, reducing pain in cancer patients, reducing depression, among other conditions.

Massage is found to be helpful both physically and emotionally. The rubbing soothes sore muscles and releases tension in the body and mind. Massaging muscles and soft tissue stimulates the nerves. It also increases blood flow and relieves stress in the muscles. Massage therapy has been found to be helpful in the treatment of:

  • Anxiety
  • Back pain
  • Carpal tunnel symptoms
  • High blood pressure
  • Migraine headache
  • Side effects of cancer and cancer therapy
