Remote second opinions from surgeons at Johns Hopkins are available for the following conditions and treatments:
- Breast cancer and breast reconstruction
- Colon and rectal cancer and diseases
- Endocrine/thyroid cancer and tumors
- Esophagus cancer
- Gastrointestinal cancer
- Neuroendocrine/carcinoid tumors
- Gastric cancer
- Liver, bile duct and gallbladder cancer and tumors

- Pancreatic cancer and tumors, pancreatitis
- Vascular conditions

Our process: coordination with your referring physician
Written permission must be obtained from your local physician to request a medical second opinion from Johns Hopkins Surgery. After completing required forms, you will mail us copies of pertinent diagnostic imaging tests. A fee will be charged to a credit card prior to the images being reviewed. A formal letter containing the Johns Hopkins physician’s assessment and recommendation(s) will be mailed or faxed to your referring physician.
In accordance with the state statues, this service is not available for patients residing in:
- New York
- North Dakota
