    Principal Investigator:
    Dale Needham, M.D., Ph.D.
    Medicine

The Outcomes After Critical Illness and Surgery Group is focused on understanding and improving... patient outcomes after critical illness and surgery. Research projects include improving long-term outcomes research for acute respiratory distress syndrome/acute respiratory failure (ARDS/ARF) patients; examining the long-term outcomes for acute lung injury/acute respiratory distress syndrome (ALI/ARDS) patients; and evaluating the effects of lower tidal volume ventilation and other aspects of critical illness and ICU care on the long-term physical and mental health outcomes of ALI/ARDS patients. view more

Research Areas: critical care medicine, acute respiratory distress syndrome, pulmonary medicine, acute lung injury, rehabilitation
  • Qian Li Lab

    Principal Investigator:
    Qian Li, Ph.D., M.S.
    Medicine

The Qian Li Lab's primary area of statistical expertise is the development and application of s...tatistical methods for: (1) handling the truncation of information on underlying or unobservable outcomes (e.g., disability) as a result of screening, (2) missing data, including outcome (e.g., frailty) censoring by a competing risk (e.g., mortality) and (3) trajectory analysis of multivariate outcomes. Other areas of methodologic research interests include multivariate, latent variable models. view more

    Research Areas: epidemiology, outcomes, biostatistics
  • Qian-Li Xue Lab

    Principal Investigator:
    Qian-Li Xue, Ph.D.
    Medicine

The primary area of statistical expertise in the Qian-Li Xue Lab is the development and applica...tion of statistical methods for: (1) handling the truncation of information on underlying or unobservable outcomes (e.g., disability) as a result of screening, (2) missing data, including outcome (e.g., frailty) censoring by a competing risk (e.g., mortality) and (3) trajectory analysis of multivariate outcomes. Other areas of methodologic research interests include multivariate, latent variable models. In Women's Health and Aging Studies, we have closely collaborated with scientific investigators on the design and analysis of longitudinal data relating biomarkers of inflammation, hormonal dysregulation and micronutrient deficiencies to the development and progression of frailty and disability, as well as characterizing the natural history of change in cognitive and physical function over time. view more

Research Areas: epidemiology, disabilities, longitudinal data, hormonal dysregulation, women's health, inflammation, frailty, biostatistics, gerontology, latent variables
  • Richard Chaisson Lab

    Principal Investigator:
    Richard Chaisson, M.D.
    Medicine

Research in the Richard Chaisson Lab primarily examines tuberculosis and HIV infection, with sp...ecific focus on global epidemiology, clinical trials, diagnostics and public health interventions. Our recent research has involved evaluating a molecular diagnostic test for tuberculosis in HIV patients; observing TB responses during treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis; and examining antiretroviral therapy adherence, virologic and immunologic outcomes in adolescents compared with adults in Southern Africa. view more

Research Areas: global health, epidemiology, infectious disease, AIDS, HIV, tuberculosis
  • Richard Moore Lab

    Principal Investigator:
    Richard Moore, M.D.
    Medicine

Research interests in the Richard Moore Lab include clinical epidemiology, costs, cost-effectiv...eness and outcomes of HIV/AIDS. We recently examined whether the effect of delaying antiretroviral therapy initiation in HIV-positive adults is modified by age at entry into care. view more

Research Areas: epidemiology, antiretroviral therapies, AIDS, HIV
  • Romsai Boonyasai Lab

    Lab Website
    Principal Investigator:
    Romsai Boonyasai, M.D., M.P.H.
    Medicine

Research in the Romsai Boonyasai Lab focuses on systems-based approaches for improving health c...are quality, including reducing harm during care transitions after hospital discharge and improving outcomes related to hypertension and other chronic diseases. We recently have focused on developing and evaluating practice-based tools for improving the accuracy of blood pressure measurement, overcoming clinical inertia to treatment, and engaging patients in self-management of their health. view more

Research Areas: health care quality, hypertension, care coordination, chronic illnesses
  • Rosalyn Stewart Lab

Research in the Rosalyn Stewart Lab focuses on medical education and curriculum development; am...bulatory medicine; community outreach and advocacy; health outcomes; and preventive medicine. Topics of published studies include the administration of vaccinations, care quality of pediatric sickle-cell disease patients and the improvement of transitional care to reduce hospital readmission rates. view more

Research Areas: medical education, preventive medicine, ambulatory care, outcomes, community outreach, advocacy

    Principal Investigator:
    Argye Hillis, M.D.
    Neurology

The mission of the Stroke Cognitive Outcomes and Recovery (S.C.O.R.E.) Lab is to enhance knowle...dge of brain mechanisms that allow people recover language, empathy, and other cognitive and communicative functions after stroke, and to improve ways to facilitate recovery of these functions after stroke. We also seek to improve the understanding of neurobiology of primary progressive aphasia., and how to enhance communication in people with this group of clinical syndromes. view more
