Dr. Peter E. Petrucci is a general surgeon affiliated with Sibley Memorial Hospital, as well as the vice president for Patient Safety, Quality and Medical Affairs. Dr. Petrucci is certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery. He practices as a Johns Hopkins Community Physician out of the Washington, D.C. and Arlington, Va. offices. 

Dr. Petrucci has an expertise in intestinal, thyroid, parathyroid, hernia and breast surgery. He only conducts surgery on these areas. 

Dr. Petrucci earned his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine. He completed a residency in general surgery at Georgetown University Hospital. Dr. Petrucci has served on the faculty at Georgetown University Hospital and D.C. General Hospital. He co-founded Foxhall Surgical Associates with Dr. Paul Melluzzo in 1977 and served as the president of the medical staff at Sibley Memorial Hospital for four years. 

Dr. Petrucci is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons and the American Society of Breast Diseases. He has served as the president of the Washington Academy of Surgery, the Georgetown Clinical Society, the Metropolitan Washington Chapter of the American College of Surgeons and the D.C. Division of the American Cancer Society. 

Dr. Petrucci has earned the American Cancer Society’s highest award, the St. George Medal and Citation for distinguished service in the cause of cancer control. He has also been repeatedly named one of the Top Surgical Specialists in the Washington, D.C. area by Washingtonian Magazine and one of the Best Doctors in America, selected by a consensus of physician colleagues as being among the top 4% of all physicians in his specialty. more
