Laura Ensign, Ph.D., is an assistant professor of ophthalmology at the Wilmer Eye Institute. Her research interests are in the area of nanomedicine. Her current projects include developing new drug delivery systems through the use of nanoparticles and developing bioabsorbable sutures appropriate for ophthalmic surgeries.

Dr. Ensign received her Ph.D. in chemical and biomolecular engineering at Johns Hopkins University, where she was a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Fellow and a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow, and joined Wilmer's Center for Nanomedicine as a research associate prior to her faculty appointment in 2014. more
