Background
Dr. Rivera-Lara is an instructor in the Division of Neurological Critical Care and attending physician in the Neurological Critical Care division at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. Dr. Rivera-Lara completed a doctorate, magna cum laude, at the University of San Luis Potosi in Mexico and her postdoctoral research fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. After an internship in the University of Massachusetts Memorial Medical Center's Department of Neurology, she completed a residency in that department. Dr. Rivera-Lara was a Fellow in Neurological Critical Care at The Johns Hopkins Hospital from 2012 to 2014 and took neurocritical care boards in 2015.
Through a clinical research training fellowship granted by the American Academy of Neurology and American Brain Foundation, Dr. Rivera-Lara is studying the optimization of cerebral perfusion in acutely comatose patients. Her other studies have explored cerebral regional oxygen saturation in comatose patients.
