Jared Marks, MD, is a neurosurgeon with Johns Hopkins Neurosurgery in Bethesda, Maryland, as well as a part-time instructor in the Department of Neurosurgery at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. His clinical focus is spinal surgery including degenerative changes in the spine as well as spine tumors, spine infections, spine trauma and spinal deformity.
Dr. Marks practices patient centered neurosurgery. He treats the patient, not just the signs and symptoms, and he believes in maximizing non-surgical therapies, when possible, prior to pursuing surgical options.
He performs laminectomies, discectomies, tumor resections, spinal fusions, deformity corrections, traumatic injury stabilizations and placement of implants such as baclofen pumps and spinal cord stimulators. Dr. Marks also treats general neurosurgical conditions such as brain tumors, intracranial infections, head injury, carpal tunnel syndrome and ulnar nerve compression.
Dr. Marks received his medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine and underwent his neurosurgical training at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) where he later served as an assistant professor of neurosurgery. He completed a fellowship in complex spinal surgery at The Johns Hopkins Hospital.
