Dr. Rajwinder Deu is an assistant professor of orthopaedic surgery at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. A specialist in primary care sports medicine, his areas of clinical expertise include musculoskeletal disorders, musculoskeletal injuries, orthopaedic surgery, orthopaedics, sports injuries and sports medicine (non-surgical). He leads the Dance Medicine Program at Johns Hopkins.
Dr. Deu sees and treats adults and high school-aged athletes (from recreational to professional) with a wide range of non-operative sports medicine issues, including musculoskeletal injuries to all joints, acute injuries, strains, sprains, non-operative fractures, overuse injuries and running injuries. He has a special interest in helping performing artists with dance injuries and caring for patients with knee osteoarthritis.
He works closely with his sports medicine surgical partners in the event that his patients may be candidates for surgical treatment and helps provide a seamless integration between the non-surgical and surgical care of patients who are seen in the Division of Sports Medicine.
Dr. Deu received his B.S. in physiology and neurobiology from the University of Maryland at College Park. He earned his M.D. from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He completed his residency at the University of Michigan Health System and performed a fellowship in sports medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Prior to joining Johns Hopkins, Dr. Deu worked as an assistant professor at Thomas Jefferson Medical College.
Dr. Deu’s research interests include the comprehensive medical care of athletes.
He is a member of the American College of Sports Medicine and American Medical Society for Sports Medicine.
