Research Summary

Molecular mechanisms of neuronal cell death in neurodegenerative diseases

Lab

Kam lab is focusing on neuronal and non-neuronal mechanisms of pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases including Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease. We are trying to understand the molecular mechanisms of non-canonical PARP-1 activation when neurons are dying as well as to identify the role of microglia-astrocyte axis in neurodegeneration. We are looking for identifying novel targets that are essential for pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases and developing disease-modifying drugs targeting key molecules.
