Dr. Lee Guo, O.D., F.A.A.O. is an Instructor of Ophthalmology at the Wilmer Eye Institute. He is board-certified by the American Board of Optometry and is an active fellow and clinical lecturer of the American Academy of Optometry. After finishing his Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry at the University of Texas at Austin, Dr. Guo achieved his Doctorate in Optometry at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale Florida. He completed didactic residency training in ocular disease at the C.W. Bill Young Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Bay Pines Florida, where he provided primary eye care, on-call ocular emergency consults, and low vision rehabilitation to local veterans.

Dr. Guo has extensive experience in the diagnosis and clinical management of ocular surface disease, glaucoma, developmental myopia, amblyopia, and neurological eye disease. Prior to joining Wilmer Eye Institute, he practiced full-scope optometry for several years at Vision Care Specialists, a large private OD/MD group practice in Colorado, where he routinely co-managed cataract and corneal refractive surgical patients. For years, Dr. Guo has been providing specialty contact lens consults for patients suffering from irregular corneas secondary to keratoconus, post-LASIK ectasia, and status post corneal transplant. In addition to scleral and hybrid contact lenses, he is also experienced in orthokeratology / CRT contact lenses and low-dose atropine treatments for pediatric populations debilitated by progressive developmental myopia. During his time at Vision Care Specialists, he served as medical director for their specialty clinic's Dry Eye Center of Excellence and successfully implemented patient screening methods and procedure-based treatments including LipiFlow thermal pulsation system.

As a member of Wilmer's Ocular Surface Disease and Dry Eye Team, Dr. Guo's specialty and research interests revolve around dry eye disease and rehabilitation of the ocular surface. His overall clinical philosophy centers on holistic evidence-based preventative care for all patients, from pediatric to geriatric. more
