Background
Dr. Diana Steppan is a pediatric hematology, oncology and bone marrow transplant specialist in the Division of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine at Johns Hopkins Children’s Center. Her areas of expertise include treatment of children who are critically ill with hematologic and oncologic diseases and children after bone marrow transplantation. She investigates the intersection of pediatric hematology and oncology with critical care medicine, and she has a special interest in patients requiring ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation).
Dr. Steppan graduated from Ruprecht Karls University in Heidelberg, Germany. She then completed a pediatrics residency at the University of Maryland Medical Center. Later, she finished a fellowship in pediatric hematology, oncology and bone marrow transplantation in a joint National Institutes of Health and Johns Hopkins program. After this training, she obtained a Master of Public Health degree at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
