Background

Amit Jain, M.D., M.B.A, is a leader and innovator in spine surgery. He specializes in comprehensive surgical care of the spine in adults and children. He is an expert in cervical (neck) and lumbar (back) degenerative conditions and a sought-out pediatric scoliosis surgeon.

Dr. Jain's practice ranges from complex spinal deformity surgery in children to minimally-invasive and robotic surgical techniques in adults. He leverages the latest technology and evidence-based clinical practices to achieve the best outcomes for his patients. His philosophy is to take care of patients with respect, compassion and competence, as he would want his own family treated.

Dr. Jain trained at the Emory Spine Center for his combined orthopaedic and neurosurgical spine fellowship. Previously, he was an orthopaedic surgery resident at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where he was awarded the prestigious Frank L. Coulson Award for Clinical Excellence. Dr. Jain graduated as the class speaker for his medical school class at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and graduated with high honors in bioengineering from the University of California, Berkeley. To further his interests in health economics and care delivery, he pursued an MBA at the Carey Business School and is now a leader in the Hopkins Business of Health executive team

Passionately committed to serving and advocating for spine patients through his clinical, educational and research efforts, Dr. Jain has published more than 200 scientific articles and book chapters. His research has been presented at multiple conferences in the United States and internationally and resulted in numerous awards. He is a Principal Investigator for a NIH R01 grant to develop the next generation of surgical robotic devices and techniques. He is passionate about mentoring and serves as the Johns Hopkins Spine Fellowship Co-Director.
