Background

Dr. Simopoulos is a board certified urologist with fellowship training in urologic oncology focusing on MRI-guided biopsy, active surveillance and focal therapy to treat and diagnose prostate cancer. Dr. Simopoulos believes in prioritizing the patient’s well-being throughout their treatment journey. He strives to deliver the most effective and least invasive treatment for men with prostate cancer.

Mirroring his clinical practice, Dr. Simopoulos’ research interests are prostate cancer diagnosis and treatment for early stage prostate cancer, using imaging technology including MRI, PSMA-PET/CT and Fusion Biopsy. He served as a co-investigator on the efficacy of hemi-gland cryoablation to treat prostate cancer and is experienced in the use of high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) to ablate prostate tissue. Future interests include laser ablation techniques to treat prostate cancer focally.
