Background

Dr. Elie Portnoy is an Assistant Professor of Radiology and Radiological Science in the Johns Hopkins Medicine Interventional Radiology Department and Diagnostic Imaging Department at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Dr. Portnoy received his undergraduate degree, Summa Cum Laude, in Biology from Yeshiva University. He earned his medical degree from NYU School of Medicine with Alpha Omega Alpha Honors Society Distinction. He completed an internal medicine internship at the North Shore-LIJ Hospital System in Long Island, NY. He then completed his diagnostic radiology residency and performed a subspecialty fellowship in interventional radiology at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Dr. Portnoy joined the Johns Hopkins faculty in 2017.

Dr. Portnoy's clinical specialty work and research has centered on interventions related to Submassive and Massive Pulmonary Embolism, as well as Uterine Artery and other visceral embolizations.

Dr. Portnoy was awarded Hospital Radiology High-Value Ambassador in 2016. He was voted both residency and fellowship Teacher of the Year in successive years. He is a member of the American College of Radiology, Society of Interventional Radiology and Radiologic Society of North America.
