Evgeny Izumchenko, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery
Dr. Izumchenko is an assistant professor in the Department of Otolaryngology, Division of Head and Neck Cancer Research, Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He received his Ph.D. from Ben-Gurion University via the BGU /Fox Chase Cancer Center (FCCC) Partnership Graduate Research Program, and his studies provided some of the earliest insights on biomarkers for early assessment of breast tumor aggressiveness. In 2012, Dr. Izumchenko joined the lab of Dr. David Sidransky at Johns Hopkins University, where he carried out seminal work in defining the clonal evolution and heterogeneity in several solid tumor types, at both the genetic and epigenetic levels. He was invited to join the Department of Otolaryngology as an Instructor in 2016 and subsequently was promoted to the rank of assistant professor in May 2017.
Dr. Izumchenko successfully lead and participate in multiple collaborative projects that have provided him with strong interdisciplinary collaborations, and gained an extensive background in tumor biology, molecular oncology, immunogenetics and genomics technologies. He is actively engaged in partnering with researchers and oncologists in academia and pharmaceutical industry worldwide, and has contributed to or authored numerous scientific publications in top-tier peer-reviewed journals, including in Nature Communications, Cancer Research, Clinical Cancer Research, Annals of Oncology and Cancer Discoveries.
