Dr. Steven Beaudry is an assistant professor of anesthesiology and critical care medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in the obstetric, gynecologic and fetal anesthesia division.
He completed his medical education at the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, internship at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, and anesthesia residency at Johns Hopkins. He performed a fellowship in anesthesiology at New York Presbyterian Hospital – Cornell Campus.
As an obstetric anesthesiologist, Dr. Beaudry is passionate about ensuring that safe and effective anesthetic care is provided to all the pregnant patients within our institution. This includes analgesia for labor and delivery, intraoperative anesthesia for cesarean deliveries and anesthesia for pregnant women having non-obstetric surgery.
Maternal co-morbid illnesses such as cardiovascular disease can significantly impact delivery outcomes for both the mother and her newborn child. As such, he is interested in investigating the basic mechanisms of cardiovascular disease in pregnancy on a cellular and molecular level, hopefully leading to more effective treatment modalities and better patient outcomes in the future. He also enjoys educating residents through direct patient care and anesthesia simulation training.
