Background

Dr. Rachel Chan Seay is an GYN/OB physician and researcher at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland where she serves as the Assistant Residency Program Director and the Associate Medical Student Clerkship Director. She previously served on the faculty at Eastern Virginia Medical School, and at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, where she earned her medical degree. She completed her internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Washington, D.C., where she served as chief resident. Since 2014 she has worked periodically as visiting clinical faculty at Hospital Nacional Juan Jose Ortega in Coatepeque, Guatemala, teaching OBGYN residents, nurses, midwives and traditional birth attendants in the Trifinio region of SW Guatemala. She has also served as visiting clinical faculty in Thomonde, Haiti and at Orotta School of Medicine in Asmara, Eritrea. She works with Doctors Without Borders and has completed emergency GYN/OB missions in Sierra Leone and South Sudan. Dr. Seay's scholarly interests include the history of medicine and development of medical education curricula in OBGYN/surgical skills for low-resource settings.
