Orthopaedic Surgery


Dr. Richard H. Conant is an orthopaedic surgeon affiliated with Sibley Memorial Hospital and Suburban Hospital. Dr. Conant is board certified in orthopaedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He has a private practice in Chevy Chase, Maryland.

Dr. Conant earned his medical degree from the State University of New York Buffalo School of Medicine. He completed general surgical training at the Beth Israel Hospital in Boston and performed two years of orthopaedic surgery while serving as a Captain in the United States Air Force. Dr. Conant also completed a residency in orthopaedic surgery at Georgetown University Medical Center. He was an assistant professor of orthopaedic surgery at Georgetown University Medical Center for 20 years, where he received a Vicennial Award. He also served as a team physician for American University’s athletic department for 17 years.

Dr. Conant is a senior fellow of the American College of Surgeons, as well as a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Montgomery County Medical Society and the Medical Society of the State of Maryland.

Dr. Conant serves as a peer review consultant for the Office of the Attorney General of Maryland, the Office of the Attorney General of the District of Columbia and the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia. more
